How to import logs from operational instance to stand by instance ?

Hi ,
I am new to the MaxDB.
I wanted to restore data and log backup from operational instance to the
stand by instance. 
Need information regarding :-> 1. In which state I have to keep these
instances ?
                                2. How to import logs to the stand by
instance ?
