Dear Daniel,

1- Have you any hints how to override python usc4 under suse 9.2
or a new installation and compilation of python using ucs2 option is the only solution for this problem.
As Now we need to use suse 9.2 as our production server

2- An other problem is when attempts to insert a Unicode string in ascii field instead to have an error returned with a the appropriate error code the python process crash completely.

Thanks and best regards
Djebran Lezzoum

Thanks a lot for your message and quick reply
I will make tests under windows platform and suse 9.2 and reply to you
with the results.

(in any case our production server are under windows, development
server are under redhat 9 and suse 9.2)

Can I consider this version as a production version or as alpha waiting
for a new version.

Thanks a lot again
Sincerely,
Djebran

Dear Djebran,

I found the problem, see ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/maxdb/tmp/maxdb-python-linux-32bit-i386-7_5_00_24a

I'm afraid that there is another problem on SuSE 9.2, namely that the
Python on that distribution uses 4byte Unicode characters.

Fixing this requires a bit more work.

   Daniel
