i don't know anything about the NPTL-version-numbers, but i think SuSE
jumpen on the NPTL-train rather late. So SuSE 9.1 should work because it
has mature NPTL support.

With newer glibc-versions, the NPTL-version seems to be identical to the
glibc-version. So my Gentoo-Linux is reporting NPTL 2.3.5 because i have
glibc 2.3.5.
