Outage of our application (jboss).
We do our backup in online mode.
But while backup is running, operation of jboss applications is hightly
restricted.
Sometimes it is not possible to create new connections.
An other restriction is, that our main table is locked too long time, so
we get transaction timeouts on the jboss side.
How long does your backup run in minutes? We are doing backup to disk on
DB servers and it goes quite fast, in our case 2 to 3 minutes for more
than 10Gb of backup size (the full backup) and below 1 minute for daily
inceremental backups (which are between 500M and 1Gb in size). We then let
the backupserver pick those backup files and write them to tape. Writing
backups directly to tapes may keep MaxDB busy for a much longer time.
We do the same procedure.
But it takes much more time 26 minutes for 6 GB incremental backup. If
the database is in offline mode it is faster.

Hello Jürgen,
There is no such hidden feature. But what do you mean with outage?

Subject: incremental Backup
Hi,
is there any way to build an incremental backup based on the last
incremental backup?
I?ve found in the documentation, that incremental backups always based
on the last full backup.
But may be there is a hidden feature?
Background:
We do a full backup once a week (Saturday night) and daily incremental
backups.
But our database is growing so fast, the outage time on Friday night
(the last incremental backup of the week) will become too large.
If we can store incremental backups based on the last incr. backup, we
have to store only the volume of one day e
