I use to upgrade all the software (linux box) with:
- stop all instances and the server
- ./SDBINST in the source directory
- restart server and instances
- load system tables of each restarted instances with the dbmcli tool:
dbmcli -d instance -u dbm_user,dbm_password
dbmcli on instance> load_systab -u dbaname,dba_passwd -ud domain_passwd
