Hello Brian,

depending on the kind of database failure it has to be desiced whether
a simple datarecovery with subsequent logrecovery is sufficient or
a recovery with inititialization and subsequent logrecovery is 
needed.
Either of them can be simply started using the dbmgui, which leads
you through the necessary actions.
If aou have any detailed questions, please provide us with some more
detailed information (e.g. error message from the file knldiag,
the used software release ...)
