Ok the plan for this is
1) add make_path to Maypole.pm for 2.11, with the API shown but no
shared path template - i.e. it just reverses default parse_path
method, it can then be overloaded or the internals mucked about with
in later releases.
2) Steal the goodies in LinkTools and munge them into Maypole,
updating all the templates.
