Aaron,

I've run into this same problem on Windows. You are correct, cloned installs 
will have identical product keys. MAC address is a possibility, but if the 
person uses a dock or external ethernet adapter then it might not be available 
when they are working mobile. 

The only sure way to have a unique identifier is to create  one yourself and 
store it somewhere buried in the Windows registry.
