Yes this is by design. MbUnit hooks Debug / Trace into its own TestLog so
the messages appear there unless they are filtered out by other means.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I checked and using the standard Trace facility works pretty much like
TestLog - this is by design, right?
Anyway, Trace supports filtering through app.config and there is log4net
trace appender, so this suffices me.

1. The only filtering available happens at the UI level. For example,
Icarus can filter diagnostic messages by severity.

2. There is no log4net appender included out of the box but you should find
it pretty trivial to implement one of your own.

Subject: MbUnit Is it possible to turn on/off diagnostic/test log through
application configuration settings?

Hi.

My unit tests output certain messages using TestLog/DiagnosticLog facility.
I am wondering whether there is an application configuration setting which
would allow me to turn them off/on or even filter by some kind of verbosity
level.

I think I can use the standard .NET Trace facility with MbUnit and Trace
supports it, but I have not tried it yet.

If I am in the question of logging, then here is a bonus question - is there
a log4net log appender that directs the log messages to Gallio
diagnostics/test log?

Thanks.
