But there will be 2.3.6, maybe 2.3.7 etc. released from glibc-2_3-branch. Anyway, trying to work around glibc bugs in applications is silly. If a system is using many groups, the admin better made sure he doesn't run a buggy glibc that can't handle it. A workaround can help just one app (mc in this case), while still many other programs will be broken.
