Details:

I downloaded the latest alpha release of cdrecord from
ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/cdrtools-2.01.01a27.tar.bz2. Now I'd
like to "navigate into" this tar file. So I start mc 4.6.1 (on Gentoo Linux
and also on Solaris 10), highlight this file and press <ENTER>.

Nothing happens.

On other tar files, I'm then seeing whatever is stored in this tar file.
Interestingly, star seems to be able create compatible tar files, as the
previous alpha of cdrecord is "<ENTER>able" with mc. Eg.
ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/cdrtools-2.01.01a26.tar.bz2

This problem seems to exist with every tar file created by star by running

star -c -find $directory -chown root -chgrp bin > file.tar

I'll attach such a sample file to this bug report. This tar file has been
created with star 1.5a81 (the latest version as of this writing) on a Solaris
10 machine.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~/tmp $ md5sum sample.star_rel1.5a81.tar
1e0d8a07145d269a68f3c66de9c1c44b sample.star_rel1.5a81.tar
