These queries seem to be describing something other than the mc which I've known for years ?!
When I want to 'see the current-dir-size' I do: <numPad+> <enter> and I see eg: "2,977,685 bytes in 74 files" Be carefull to 'deselect' them after this:<-Numpad> <enter> If for some strange reason I wanted this shown as <integer>.<decimalFraction> of Mb, perhaps I'd 'apropos calculate' to find a utility that calculates or just try to write a minimal bash-script, which I'd put in my $PATH and name mbdir or even add the actions to the <F2 menu>. What the hell is a "tab" in the given context ?! Re. losing the previously selected dir. when we branch-off to do some sub-task, I just open another mc. Since this is conceptually like sub-routineing, I suppose it would be nice if we could just 'stack the dirs and pop them back'. Which perhaps mc can already do.
