Hi everyone,

I just started using mc a few weeks ago. And as of yesterday have gained
access to SMB shares by compiling samba support from source. I've just
noticed that on a few of the networks I connect to (I do desktop
support) SMB browsing is slow. That may even be an understatement. At
home and all other networks it's as fast as browsing locally.

I'm having a hard time deciding where to start the troubleshooting.
Here's some background:

I'm running:
-Debian -> lenny/sid
-SAMBA, samba-common & smbclient ->3.2.4.1
-all the networks I connect to are windows clients peer to peer with a
single linux samba server
-mc compiled from source ->4.6.1
mc -V =
GNU Midnight Commander 4.6.1
Virtual File System: tarfs, extfs, cpiofs, ftpfs, fish, smbfs
With builtin Editor
Using included S-Lang library with terminfo database
With subshell support as default
With support for background operations
With mouse support on xterm
With internationalization support

The initial connection is as quick as expected but as soon as I try to
enter the actual share and thereafter it crawls(but still works).

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Phil
