My ISP also gave me a login name with a '@' in the it, and claimed that he could not avoid it. The OP may benefit from the .netrc approach: it's a good workaround. Just escape the '@' in the .netrc file, like: machine bla.bla.bla login he...@tail password whatever Works like a charm, Guido -- Communicate!
