I do NOT confirm this one! If a command is _still running_ in the subshell in the background, navigating between directories in MC panels, does NOT change the subshell's CWD. But, it continues to sync after the command's exit AND I do a Ctrl+o back and forth. A repeat, that doing a going to subshell and back to panels (through Ctrl+o by default) is necessary.
