The Jade Ribbon Campaign at Cal and Stanford University's Asian Liver Center proudly presents. Jade Ribbon Campaign: The Fight Against Hepatitis B and Liver Cancer DeCal MCB 98/198 (2 units) Fridays biweekly starting 2/11 2pm-3:30pm 220 Wheeler http://jrc.berkeley.edu <http://jrc.berkeley.edu/> [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Run Down (Course Description): Hepatitis B is currently one of the top five causes of premature mortality for Asian & Pacific Islander Americans (APIA) - yet it is preventable by a vaccine which has been available for over 20 years. The Jade Ribbon Campaign DE-Cal course addresses the issues of hepatitis B and liver cancer, and their impact both here in the United States and abroad in countries such as China. After learning about the virology, biochemistry, and epidemiology of the disease, students will have an opportunity to put their new knowledge about hepatitis B into community practice in this service learning course. Through listening to guest lectures, participation in community outreach events, and development of personal projects, students will have an opportunity to make an impact in the fight against hepatitis B and liver cancer. Enrollment Info: Enrollment is limited to around 10 people! An application is required for those interested. Please download it from our website or our link at decal.org. We are looking for people who would make good, hardworking outreach candidates.
