Description: Role: UDB DB/LUW Engineer Architect Location Foster City Job description: This role provides technical expertise on database support for multiple services/applications employing one or more of the current standard DBMS platforms (currently: DB2 LUW, DB2 z/OS, SQL Server and Oracle). Database support includes, but it is not limited to design, architect, and build relational database systems to support business requirements and application changes. This position also provides Level-3 technical support to supported databases/services. Level-3 functions typically include advanced troubleshooting, performance tuning, and documentation. • Manage large-scale DB2 UDB databases on UNIX (Solaris/AIX/Linux) operating environments. • Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new hardware and platforms. • Provide technical expertise in all aspects of database implementation life cycle from sizing, through capacity planning, design, and implementation. • Physical implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions. • Provide inputs in defining database standards and best practices for advanced monitoring and troubleshooting, performance tuning and automation • Provide guidance and direction to Level-2 Production database operations team.
