Submission due date: 11/20 F2F Required 35 hours/week Need 2 References with resume Job Description The Solution Architect will develop and coordinate integration of new technology, manage deployments, conduct performance monitoring and support processes for infrastructure technologies in more than 1,700 schools. The Solution Architect will provide expertise in development of standards documentation and will work with constituents to define and document processes. Duties and Responsibilities: - Provides in-house skills and expertise in the field of the WAN-based fiber optic transmission systems for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint fiber optic technology. - Responsible for design and support of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Packet Optical Transport Network (POTN) solutions and systems. - Responsible for WAN optical network analysis and identifying architectural gaps. - Responsible for improvement of Optical network infrastructure systems and processes, including architecture advancement and service level improvement. - Manages a variety of technical tasks (as part of designing the infrastructure in existing schools) while providing technical support for both current and future needs. - Provides expertise to Solution Architect to help identify and translate system and business requirements into design documents and drawings. - Work with Solution Engineers to test technical concepts in a lab environment - Produces highly technical, client-oriented design documents to illustrate solution strategy and deployment plans. - Surveys market landscape for current trends, directions and methods to improve and enhance existing network, server, storage and end-point infrastructure. - Develops, organizes and performs extensive testing scenarios for various solutions. - Validates equipment and assures that the specifications in the core network and school designs meet the standards and organizational goals. - Serves as the in-house expert and authority in troubleshooting complex infrastructure technologies including optical problems. - Works with the telecommunication team on developing IP telephony standards. - Collaborates with Project Managers during the deployment phase of the project to document the installation, customization, and integration efforts. - Leads the creation of the configuration deployment procedures and trains integration and field engineers on various networking configurations. - Uses the knowledge of ITIL processes and methodology to develop project’s structure and documentation. - Provides technical expertise, including but not limited to the following: - DWDM and POTN expertise - Optical Networking Technologies - Cisco Nexus technologies - Contributes to the creation process of technical RFP and RFI documents. - Contributes to the creation process and maintains NYCDOE 5 year Strategic Plan standards. - Works to develop RFP documentation to implement solutions in accordance with the Strategic Plan. Qualification Requirements: Minimum: - Ability to articulate complex technical designs in English - BS degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication or related field; (MS degree preferred) - Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP Routing & Switching) certification - Minimum 8 years of professional experience supporting information systems, technology deployments and project management in a large, enterprise environment.
