*Short description:*
Senior Consultant is responsible for evaluating existing systems and/or new
user needs to analyze, design, recommend, and implement information system
changes.
NJSDA IT and Special Systems Design Specialist

*Complete description:*
THIS IS A 3 DAYS PER WEEK, 7 HOURS PER DAY ENGAGEMENT _ There may be
flexibility with the specific weekdays.

*NJSDA Specific Responsibilities:*
o        Participate in programming interviews with districts to determine
IT and special systems (data, communications, and security systems)
performance requirements and confirm district standards
o        Review of architectural plan development and preliminary sizing
and layout of MDF and IDF rooms
o        Input/review of plans as required to locate IT or special systems
devices
o        Preparation of Performance and/or Technical Specifications
including coordination with SDA Materials and Systems Standards
o        Development and updating of SDA Materials and Systems Standards
for IT and Special Systems
o        Review of outside design consultant submissions for conformance
with SDA Materials and Systems Standards for IT and Special Systems and
other applicable standards

o        Consult with IT Department and assist in development and
implementation of SDA network management or network upgrades
o        Experience with internal and external network monitoring and
security
o        Experience with network design, maintenance and trouble-shooting
for Cisco infrastructure including routers, bridges switches, firewalls
o        Experience with HP EVA 6100 configuration
o        Experience with HP and IBM file servers



*Years of Relevant Experience: 8 to 11 years*
Preferred Education: 4 year college degree or equivalent technical study or
advanced degree

Project Management experience
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs
Works well with IT and functional areas
Designs architecture for an organization on an enterprise level
Evaluates and revises business processes
Leads and directs the work of others

Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors progress
Proficient in one or more project management tools
Ensures that all project goals are accomplished according to specifications
and business objectives
Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a
timely manner
Identify and track issues, risks and action items
Anticipate, identify, track and resolve issues and risks affecting own work
and work of the project team. Develop contingency plans as necessary.
Consistently provides accurate and detailed estimates
May analyze or recommend commercially available software or other IT
architectural components
Execution of all responsibilities with little direct supervision
Proficient in one IT architectural discipline
Proficient in developing and providing high-level executive briefings.
Mentor and coach peers
Provide knowledge transfer to peers
