*Position: VMware Systems Engineer* *Location: Nashville, TN* *Duration: 6 months* *US Citizens* *SUMMARY:* The VMware Systems Engineer provides in-depth technical support, design and thought leadership regarding our VMware infrastructure for the client’s Desktop as a Service (DaaS) environment. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Job duties include the following: -Develop and manage multiple virtual environments using VMware View and vSphere. -Manage and configure server and SAN hardware. -Develop workflows in VMware vCenter Orchestrator which are used for the automatic provisioning and registration of virtual desktops. -Java Script, Powershell, and CSharp programming experience. -Develop and manage custom GPO’s for the virtual desktop environment. -Manage and configure roaming profiles. -Determining processes for deciding which applications should be virtualized. -Testing and deployment of virtual applications including test planning and partnership with various IT partners. -Maintenance of virtual applications to include patching, version control, application life cycle planning, and developing maintenance processes. -Maintain SSL certificates. -Gathering customer requirements for application virtualization requests. -Maintain an awareness of current developments in virtual desktops and conduct research and development of new technologies. -Packaging virtual applications using ThinApp. -Delivering virtual applications to virtual and physical desktops using a variety of methods, such as ThinApp delivery, SCCM and Terminal Services. -Create and manage scripts to deliver virtual applications, as appropriate. -Partner with IT service providers to provide tier 3 technical support and technical training. -Provide support team members with the tools, knowledge, and support documentation required to support virtual applications in the enterprise. *EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE* -Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant disciplines -Equivalent work experience/training may be considered in lieu of a degree -Six to ten years of progressively more responsible technical support experience in a complex technology services environment. -At least one year in a computing support role at the client’s site -Experience with application installation, configuration, and testing -Experience with application deployment and maintenance -Experience with SQL query language and scripting languages such as Perl and Powershell for data center automation -Understanding of Windows Client and Server platforms -Self-starter, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision -Ability to participate in a team by demonstrating excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills -Outstanding customer service skills *Desired Criteria:* -Knowledge of application dependencies with the OS -Experience or knowledge of VDI using VMWare View -Experience with VMWare ThinApp, Microsoft AppV, Citrix XenApp, or Microsoft Terminal Services -Knowledge of ITIL processes *KEY COMPETENCIES* -Achievement Oriented – identifies and accomplishes challenging objectives or personal goals.
