Hi Jonathan

I found a 2 day SQL course particularly useful. It helped with writing complex
reports for Mimsy XG and for bulk updating data. Its also transferable to MS
Access and other databases.

Kind regards
Gemma

Subject: [MCN-L] Professional Development

I have the opportunity for some professional development through my
workplace, and would love some advice on what field/technology focus
people in similar positions have found most helpful. My background is in
photography, but I have extensive experience with computers and so was
given the opportunity to manage a new database (Mimsy XG) at a mid-size
university art museum. Since we are a department of a larger system, I
have an IT support staff to call upon for technical advice and
implementation, but I am finding that some training would be helpful
now, as well as in the future. Given that I have no background in
database development, database/web integration or even computer
programming, where would you think my skills would best be improved
upon? I have found a lack of knowledge during the course of my job in:
SQL language and development, PHP/CSS scripting, Windows Networking and
Active Directory administration, and Oracle database management.

Thanks!

Jonathan
