Hi all,

It's not too late to register for the earlybird fee at the MCN
conference! Of particular interest to this conversation is the
following session:

Exploring Open Source Content Management Solutions for Museum
Applications
Moderator: Scott Alan Sayre, Sandbox Studios Inc.
Participants: John Chadwick, New Mexico State Library; Geoffrey Jost,
Japanese American National Museum; and Ray Shah, Think Design

This panel will provide an overview of a number of the most popular
and free open-source content management systems (Mambo/Joomla,
Drupal, etc.) and their use for museum applications. Each presenter
has experience developing websites with one or more of the tools, and
will demonstrate the tool along with the resulting project site. The
presentations will also include an overview of the wide range of
templates and component-based extensions for these systems, with an
emphasis on those most related to museum functions. Panelists will
discuss the pros and cons of developing their projects with these
tools and the support of the greater open-source community. The panel
will reserve time for an open discussion and debate with members of
the audience.
