Museums and Spirituality

Evocative and comforting, or controversial and conflicting - this
open-ended conversation with other senior museum professionals provides
you with a unique opportunity to consider the private and public roles
that spirituality plays in museums and cultural institutions, and to
explore the diverse means that institutions use to share spiritual and
secular messages through exhibitions, programs, and activities.

You will engage in dialogue and discovery to strengthen your
understanding of:
* the role that spiritual influences play in organizational culture and
decision-making
* how museums evolve towards or away from being a place for religious
ceremonial practice
* the presentation of sacred objects, relics, and intangible collections

* the objectification and disassociation of sacred objects in
exhibitions
* the rational and spiritual explanation of nature and history,
evolution, and creationism in museums

This workshop welcomes all with a view to share on the role that museums
play in sharing information of either a religious, secular, or
scientific nature.
