Network Administrator:

The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and 
publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of 
New Orleans and the Gulf South region.  THNOC is a collection of over 35,000 
library items, more than two miles of documents and manuscripts, and over 
350,000 photographs, prints, drawings, paintings, and other artifacts.  The 
Collection is currently accepting resumes for the position of Network 
Administrator.



The Network Administrator is responsible for effectively and efficiently 
managing and maintaining The Historic New Orleans Collection's computer and 
communication networks for geographically dispersed facilities.  This includes 
the maintenance of network and security servers, enterprise-class data storage, 
and disaster recovery devices.  The Network Administrator is responsible for 
the implementation, configuration and ongoing support of network 
hardware/firmware, along with network security and troubleshooting activities 
for network operation.  This position analyzes hardware and software 
requirements for all computer and telecommunication systems at The Historic New 
Orleans Collection.  The Network Administrator  works with the Technology 
Department staff to develop and maintain policies and procedures for 
appropriate use of network resources and disaster recovery.



The ideal candidate must have a bachelor's degree in computer science and a 
minimum of 4 years of experience in network management or an equivalent 
combination of education and experience.  Qualified candidates must have skill 
and experience in:  networking protocols, such as TCP/IP and 802.11; Active 
Directory; operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows and Exchange, Mac OS 
and MPE; Avaya communication systems; and repairing and upgrading computer 
hardware.  The Network Administrator must be proficient in Microsoft Office and 
have the ability to learn and use museum specific software/database.  
Additionally, the successful candidate must have excellent communication 
(verbal and writing), collaborative, customer service, organizational, 
analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to multi-task and 
prioritize competing demands.



This is a full-time position Monday through Friday.  The Collection offers a
