This tour is limited to 30 people. * *Science World*: Experience BC’s iconic science centre located in one of Vancouver’s most recognizable buildings. A behind-the-scenes tour will feature staff from several departments discussing innovation and community engagement. *Vancouver Maritime Museum*: Get special access to the collections space where staff will discuss experiences implementing AR and VR into the exhibit space, unexpected community partnerships, and other digital initiatives relating to the collection. The tour will also have a chance to see the digital work in the exhibit spaces while touring the museum’s centrepiece *St. Roch* vessel (the first ship to completely circumnavigate North America, and the second sailing vessel to complete a voyage through the Northwest Passage) and the feature exhibition, *The Lost Fleet*. *Museum of Vancouver*: Check out the MOV’s collections storage and digitization spaces with staff as they discuss their digitization efforts over the years, especially the challenges of digitizing the costume collection and using DAMS. Beginning with a curator-led tour of the Cowan Tetrapod collection, you will peek into the museum’s visible storage cabinets and unveil the stories behind some of the 2.1 million specimens in the collection. You will tour the fossil lab and see specimens up to 500 million years old, and then visit the freezer to see the frozen tissues archive and collections waiting for prep. Finally (and not for the squeamish), you will tour the Vertebrate Prep Lab where you’ll see staff and volunteers preparing a variety of animals for preservation, and see how a colony of beetles are some of the hardest working (and hungriest) helpers at the museum. *Design Tour of the Museum of Anthropology’s Gallery of Northwest Coast Masterworks* This groundbreaking new gallery is dedicated to Indigenous art from the Northwest Coast. One of the most elegant and innovative exhibition spaces of its kind, the 210-square-metre gallery pairs cutting-edge technology with an inviting and natural setting that reflects the surrounding environment.
