Dear All,

Realizing many have busy work weeks, we have extended the application
deadline from today (June 20) to Saturday June 23.

The Conference on Mobile Position Awareness Systems and Solutions (aka
COMPASS) will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 6 & 7 at the
Exploratorium, Pier 15, The Embarcadero at Green Street, San Francisco, CA.

The two day conference will be an intensive program covering a range of
topics. There will be a keynote each day, the first about how interpretive
technology is used in museums, and a second about the practice and
potential of IoT in an informal education context. Museum project veterans
will share case histories of how indoor location apps have been developed.
Attendees will have the opportunity to have an up-close encounter with
the hardware and software that has been used in indoor location apps in a
technology 'petting zoo' session. And whether your budget is $100 or $1M,
a full range of approaches will be shared from an ingenious open source
WordPress based app to the custom built seven figure projects.

Attendees will get to exchange ideas on possible interpretive strategies,
learn how privacy should be addressed in app design, and how automatic
logging of visitor paths might be used for research. A frank and spirited
examination of mobile indoor location technology will be framed in the form
of a faux "trial" with "lawyers" presenting their arguments, questioning
witnesses, and critique-ing or defending the readiness and usability of
mobile indoor location apps. The conference is designed to provide
multiple opportunities to connect, network, learn, brainstorm, and gain a
rich and detailed perspective on what has been done and what future
prospects might be. Note that attendees will be from a range of fields and
organizations, museums, universities, research nonprofits, consultancies,
businesses and government agencies and from a range of levels of experience
with this technology.

Speakers include: Aaron Straup Cope, Yvonne Rogers, Seb Chan, Jennifer
King, Leilah Lyons, Theano Moussouri, Dave Patten, Niranjini Rajagopal,
Matt Tarr, and Keir Winesmith

Capacity is limited so please apply to attend the conference at the link on
this page.
