I don't usually do this, but you asked if it was an anomaly of your system. 
Well I have MDII on two A3000's, a stock A3000 030/25 and one with an MKIII
060/50, with a PII, and it doesn't do it on either system.  Forwarding,
followups and replys are all flawless.  I use MDII beta 1.3.20, not
netconnect.  I've had some weird things with MKII, but almost all have come
down to the TextInput.mcc/mcp class or one of the Vapor.libraries, and the
ones with 1.3.20 work very well.
