------Preamble------
TO ALL: With apologies; this is not an md-2 question.
This is a plea to md-2 subscribers for assistance on an Amiga problem.
I'm posting this *AS A ONE-OFF* msg to contact me by direct e-mail if any of
you can help. NB Please reply to my personal e-mail address, NOT TO THE
md-2 ML.

I would suggest that you use YAM 2 instead for emailing - I have found
it better than Microdot II in almost all respects. YAM has the feature that
you are looking for.

Yes, I'd really like to use Yam2. But I can't because of a *really
peculiar* Amiga problem that I've had eer since I first tried Yam2, that I
just _cannot_ solve.
The problem is that my system refuses to run Alan Odgaard's
[MUI]TextEditor.mcc/.mcp class correctly. What happens is that none of the
keyboard navigation controls are recognised. Its really strange. All the
keyboard characters behave as normalBUT the L,R,Up,Dn arrows, the Del key,
the BackSpace key, and the Return key are all completely ignored.
This means that I can write e-mails but the only way I can move the cursor
around in the text editing window of Yam is with the mouse, and I have to
use mouse copy/paste in order to insert blank lines instead of just pressing
the Return key. To correct typos, I have to paste over and type over. What
an ache in the arse! So I've given up.
I know the prob lies in the TextEditor class because Yam contains this, and
MUI prefs has a section for it that contains a demo panel in which the same
prob appears. I also get the same prob in any other prog using this class.
I've tried:
- re-installing MUI,
- reverting to all orig. files in..
- Devs:,
- L:,
- Libs:,
- etc.,
- disabling all Boot add-ins,
- re-setting TextEditor class key assignments,
- removing all possible conflicting non-essential MUI 'classes',
- waiting to see if one day it goes away (works, sometimes!),
- scratching my head,
- scratching my.. (enOUGH! -ed).
This is a really major headache.
One further problem, just in case the two are related: I can never seem to
get any hotkeys to work, in any program.
Any similar experiences, anyone?
Any ideas, anyone?
Kind regards,
John Wasilewski
