Un and re-subbing isn't enough, you actually have to remove the group
(not just the posts).

There is a way round it actually, I read it on the Wirenet site after
U-nets news server went tits up.

If you change the news server (to anything you like), MD will ask if
you want to reset the pointers.  Click reset (or whatever it says),
then change the news server back to your news server.  This time click
don't care.
When you check for news, it will come up saying that all your groups
are empty (even though there are messages in them), click to get the
last 100 articles ( I only bother with headers), go through the
groups, delete the duplicates and your groups should be up to date
with all previously downloaded messages still in place. Depending on
the number of groups you sub to, I would've thought that should take
less than 10 mins.
