For those that are interested, here is how well MD2 does against the GNKSA
newsreader requirements:

http://www.newsreaders.com/gnksa/Evaluations/microdot-ii-1.4.4.txt

85% of "musts" have been satisfied; that's unfortunately only as good as the
older version of MS Outlook Express. There are only a few failures, which
hopefully should be easily rectified. I've reproduced the failures below.
1d & 1e I wasn't sure about, as it is possible to do this but maybe not in
a clear way - so that's why these are failures. 11c basically says that
the newsreader shouldn't allow the user to post anything without putting
their own subject in. The rest should be self-explanatory. Comments?

Regarding the strict GNKSA requirements (MUSTs), Microdot-II 1.4.4
FAILS on the following points:

1d Fails to show where to followup to (Followup-To)
1e Does not show where to reply to (Reply-To)
7c Does not restrict references sensibly
11c Uses some default subject when the user did not set one
12b Fails to refuse to post messages with syntactically incorrect From:
16a Does not warn when posting an empty article

Microdot-II 1.4.4 violates `soft' GNKSA requirements (SHOULDs)
in the following way:

3b Does not warn when posting to a large number of groups
3c Fails to encourage setting a Followup-To on large crossposts
9d Mail message not preceded by notification when posted and mailed
10d Does not omit (proper) signatures from quoted text
10e Does not let the user indicate which part to followup to
13a Does not let users cancel their own articles
13b Does not enable users to supersede their own articles
14b Fails to warn for excessively long lines
14e Fails to check basic hygiene of output from external editor
15b Does not warn on, or refuse, excessive signatures
16b Does not refuse posting an empty article
16d Does not refuse to post quoted text only
18 Does not let the user suppress unwanted messages automatically
