Thanks for the note, I'll forward it to the MD mailing list. I'm
wondering whether or not the R90/91 is really more prone to shock than
other MD gear. I don't know how frequently folks record while walking
with the recorder in their pocket, I don't. But perhaps in the pursuit
of saving power, the optical head has actually been made more
sensitive to shock (e.g. lower static friction?).
