In my experience drop outs from disc problems are extremely rare. I've
only had drop-out problems with 1 or 2 blanks out of several hundred,
and these drop outs occurred in the same spot, even after re-recording.

Even if it only happens on a certain brand of MD, if it happens
frequently it sounds to me like a problem with your MZ-R55. I'd have
it sent in for service.
