There are no "inherent" compatibilitiy problems in the format. If you can nail it down and report what you find, it would be helpful to us all. Some things to try: 1) Do recordings from his machine play in your machine? 2) Add some other machines to the mix, can you isolate a bad recorder, or bad player?
