Someone here posted about owning an early deck that could not play mono or
even recognize it, and even combined a mono track with a stereo track. He (I
seem to remember it was an XY person) didn't say what happened when it tried
to play a mono track; I'd guess it would play it at double speed as when you
clone a stereo TOC entry to point to mono material.
