No, ejecting the optical block will cause the optical block to jump out of
the unit, deploy a parachute, and descend to the floor. This in case the
unit comes under enemy fire and is too damaged to land.

The key combination that was originally given should do nothing. But beware
of test mode- at any moment any key can cause death (to the unit, not you).
And no, that is not a joke.
