You can get NiMH AA cells pretty cheap. Use those and a little piece of
cardboard or tape to hold down the charging switch in the recorder and
it works just as well as the BP-DM20 ..... The only caveat is, be sure
to take out the tape or cardboard if you put regular AA cells in..
....they won't take a charge and could be damaged, leak or damage the
recorder if you try to charge them.
