Hi, The Grundig MD-P1 personal MD player (a current model) uses the Sony CXD-2655R chip. This chip is not specifically mentioned in the table of chip numbers/ATRAC versions at http://www.minidisc.org/minidisc_faq.html. The table there mentions that the CXD-2654R chip implements ATRAC 4.5.
