Pages 16 and 17 of the MDS-JB940 manual (now up on the MDCP courtesy of
Nicolas Rose-Hirchenhan) describe a firmware-implemented naming convention
for LP2 and LP4 tracks. The 940 has a setting (on by default) to put "LP:"
(the manual shows no space after the colon, but in practice there might be
one) at the start of the title of any LP2 or LP4 track; a player or recorder
that groks LP will automatically suppress it and show only the rest of the
title. (The characters still take up titling space, though.) But a machine
that doesn't do LP will show the prefix, explaining why the track is playing
silently.
