Steve,
    sorry about not putting in the chipsets etc, that was my fault.  here is
what the manual says the chipsets and stuff are. Creative ct5880 sound, it
says both the sound and spdif are optional in the manual but mine came with
both.  it appears to set up the sound card as a sound blaster pci 128.  the
markings on the chipset on the mb are as follows.

Creative
CT5880-DBQ
9950H J9080
Kor

it has 3 aux inputs on the mb for CD, AUX, Tel

as far as digital inputs from a cd rom or other device i do not see any on
the mb

I hope this helps out in some of your questions.
