Subject: MD: Cheap soundcard for MD

> I just thought I would point out another source for a cheap soundcard

To mention another inexpensive card. I need a soundcard for a new DIY pc
last week and stumbled upon a Guillomont (sp?) for $49 at Fry's (Arlington,
TX). It uses the Yamaha XG extended mini chip -and- has a toslink output.
No toslink input. However for those wanting killer mini sound -and- a
toslink out for MD recording this card is hard to pass. It's a pci card.

As an aside I tried reusing my SB16 with XG daughtercard in ISA slot (ABIT
KT133A+ mobo with 1.1gh Athlon cpu running 133 mhz FSB) but there was
constant almost random static noise introduced in the wav output. Switching
to a pci soundcard cured this.
