I can't record anything on my Sharp 831. When I put in a blank and press record, the message "can't lock" appears on the screen. I've tried different brands of blank and it makes no difference. The discs are not write protected (that was the first thing I checked) and it makes no difference whether a cable (optical or analogue) is inserted. Playback is unaffected.
