We used the copy profile for our windows 7 images, but were able to do
everything via GPO for our Windows 8.1 image. After doing both, I much prefer
the GPO approach, the copy profile gave us lots of headaches.

Subject: Re: [MDT-OSD] Copyprofile for Windows 8.1 reference image

What customizations are you carrying through to the default profile?

I’m interested to see what changes you are making, that can’t be done post
image deployment or via registry settings injected during the imaging process.

As far as I know, you only need to customize the Administrator account that you
get logged into when you are in Audit mode. Once configured, you will need to
add the CopyProfile tag in your unattend.xml file. You can check out this post
for a bit better explanation.

I created a Windows 8.1 reference image that will be used in my MDT 2013
deployment. I created a user during the OS installation that was used to
configure Windows settings like wallpaper, screen saver and other explorer
options. I have read that I can use the CopyProfile command that will copy the
user profile to the Default profile. Do I use this command during the
deployment task sequence or does it have to be used during the image capture
process? Is there a better way of doing what I am trying to accomplish?

Thanks
