It disturbs me to see complaints like this. Perhaps they are deserved, but I have spent many hours working with people to track down tricky bugs and helped find bugs in other software, e.g. MIDI OX (a great tool for Win32). I do not know of any "weird unsolved bug" in PortMidi, but if someone had a bug I could not reproduce and did not track it down, that could be (please remind me if there's something unresolved). MIDI is surprisingly difficult to get right, so I would caution against jumping to a new implementation rather than fixing an existing one. I am grateful to all the contributors to PortMidi.
