HUTAN PASCA PEMANENAN; Melindungi Satwa Liar Dalam
Kegiatan Hutan Produksi di Kalimantan

Tropical forests are the most species rich land-based
eco-systems on Earth. But they are disappearing at a
rate of 12 million hectares a year, taking with them
thousands of animal, plant and insect species.

Life after Logging focuses on Borneo’s richest area of
biodiversity, Malinau in East Kalimantan. Regrettably,
Malinau and its extraordinary range of species are
increasingly threatened by logging, hunting and road
building.

Logging has long been at the very core of conflicts
between conservationists, logging companies and
governments. But this need not be the case. Life after
Logging shows how groups with differing forest
interests can manage forests together in ways that
benefit wildlife and improve the conservation value of
logged forests.

Erik Meijaard from TNC and Tony Suhartono (tbc) from
DEPHUT will make a short presentation about the book.
They will then be joined by CIFOR’s Douglas Sheil in
an open discussion. The presentation and discussion
will be in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
