On Brickimedia <http:////mediawiki.org/wiki/Brickimedia> if I checkout REL1_24, $wgDisableCounters = true; seems to work fine. Brickimedia is on 1.23.7 for the time being though for other reasons, but when I just quickly tested the site on 1.24 I saw no counter.
