Public bug reported: The problem is well known and well described in the GE community, I have been hit by this problem myself now on 9.10. For some reason I was unaffected on 9.04.

I have made a very simple patch that solves the problem for medibuntu googleearth. Hope you incorporate this patch in the medibuntu package.
