Because upstream ffmpeg considers libfaac non-free (see bug 374900) the
current version of ffmpeg in Karmic does not contain any aac or libfaac
support. It would be great if Medibuntu would supply a libfaac enabled
ffmpeg for Karmic.
Building one from the current ffmpeg-extra source package in Karmic is
VERY easy. If you just add the libfaac-dev package to the build-depends
in the debian/control file the package automatically builds ffmpeg with
libfaac support. No other actions are necessary.
