Jan,
We used to enter two orders for situations like this. Several years ago we had
an incident where nurse "A" gave the "Now" dose and Nurse "B" turned right
around and gave another "starter" dose from the "BID" order. With our paper
MAR, these are documented in different sections, so the second nurse didn't
look in the "one-time" section and thus didn't know a dose had been given.
Because of this, we now process a single order with label comments that spell
out "Now and BID" or "first dose now". Not sure how we'll handle it when we
get around to eMAR.

We are trying to work through the GRAY screen that comes up when you scan an
NDC and there are 2 RXs out there....
Scenario could be Lasix, NOW and BID. The nurse scans the pill itself in scan
meds and the gray screen comes up listing 2 RX numbers.
Our team members feel they want to see more information on this screen.. like
maybe the actual time the doses are due....
I really don't want to ask for more customs... just causes issues down the road
How are you training your staff and how is it going??

Thanks in advance!!
