If you (or someone you know) has a strong clinical analyst or project
management background and would like to learn more about two positions
currently open at our community hospital, I would love to talk with you.
Located in Virginia, about forty miles southwest of Washington, DC,
Fauquier Hospital is an 86-bed acute care hospital serving a
rural/suburban community.

We are searching for a Clinical Analyst with primary responsibilities
for Meditech LAB and PHA as well as various other non-Meditech clinical
applications. The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of work
experience as a clinical analyst.

We are also recruiting for a Clinical Analyst with primary
responsibility for our CPOE implementation initiative. The ideal
candidate would be a self-starter with clinical work experience (i.e.,
nurse, pharmacist, pharmacy tech, etc.), strong project management
skills, and excellent communication skills.

If you would like to be considered for one of these positions, or would
like more information, please email your resume to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you,
Charlotte Robey

I was not part of the selection team, but I am told that EDM was
insufficient. We have T-system live, and we are putting the final
touches on the Lab interface. Our ED was oversold and therefore unhappy
to learn that an "orders to lab" interface would cost extra, and that
only the Lab module results will interface back to T-system. But, we
will move the lab interface live next week.

Are there any facilities using Electronic T-Systems. If so, did you
consider Meditech's EDM? If you did, what was the compelling reason to
go with the T-Systems product?

We are looking for any contacts with hospitals currently using the EDM
and or ORM applications successfully. The managers of these areas are
requesting these contacts. Our ER has 11 rooms and sees about 14,000
patients a year. Our OR does approximately 3278 procedures a year. If
there is anyone out there willing to answer questions it would be much
appreciated.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] OE: UNC orders
To: <[email protected]>
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Are you using the uncollected orders feature in OE? If so, what are you
doing with the orders that go uncollected after the patient is
discharged?

Did you realize that these orders do not auto cancel when the patient
is discharged? Do you see a need for this? If so, I have put in a mix
request MIX #4836793. If you agree that this should be an enhancement,
please let Meditech know.

Meditech's argument is this:
"the change was rejected by development on the basis that although a
patient is discharged, theorder may still be valid if it was placed
before the discharge date/time. They coded this so that an order does
not cancel just because the order has not yet been updated that the
specimen was collected, etc. So, any orders that are UNC and invalid,
but entered before discharge, would need to be manually cancelled for
the patient.

Development figures if the orders service time has already passed
before the discharge, the patient was around for the collection but the
order was not updated in a timely fashion. So, to avoid the user having
to re-enter an order simply to change the prompt from Collected N to
Collected Y, then the same cancellation rules should apply to UNC orders
as all other orders with a service date and time prior to the patient's
discharge. I can definately see your side on this as well, but they
coded as most hospitals do not place orders in realtime. Thanks."

Thank you,
Pat

out on the documentation of alternative measures and patient/family

education about the pain medication given. Is there anyone out there

We are beginning to implement the Online Medication Profiles in the
hospital and had a few questions. We would like to know how other
Hospitals are handling the online MAR with no 24 hour pharmacy staff and
no pharmacy call center. Also we have a couple of departments that do
not have a pyxis dispensing unit, how are you handling this? Are you
allowing your supervisors, and or RN's to enter unverified orders in the
PHA module? We are currently running Meditech version 5.4.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

For sites that are up and running with either eMAR and/or BMV ...

How often are you having nurses acknowledge med orders on the eMAR?
Who is responsible for this ... the charge nurse? Staff nurse?

What is the prescribed procedure for acknowledging ... is the nurse to
go back to the original written order and compare it to the one on the
eMAR?

  Thanks.

Hi Louise,

Did you place the query mnemonic in qoutes?

Hope it's that easy!

Good afternoon

We will be going Live with NUR in December. NPR report writing for this
module seems like it is a challenging task at best. My director is
considering sending someone to MAGIC programming training, if that is
what is needed, so I was asked to take a poll.

Of those of you who write your own NPR reports, for NUR in particular,
what training have you had? Where did you obtain your training?

Would MAGIC programming training be beneficial?

Of those who have had MAGIC programming training, what other uses do you
apply it to?

Of those of you who have outsourced NPR RW, what is the estimated cost
per year you have spent?

Any other information you wish to share that would be useful pertaining
to this topic would be welcome. Thank you in advance for your
responses.

Debbie
