Title: Impact of computer systems on staffing levels
I've been asked to research the impact of different computer systems on pharmacy staffing. We are an acute/long term care/snf/icf/Licensed Residential Care & Residential Care multi-location facility with Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacies. I was hoping someone could share how changes in the hospital information system affected your staffing in Pharmacy.
Did your pharmacist staffing change with:
Implementing and maintaining an integrated hospital information system?
(Changing from another system to Meditech OR changing from Meditech to another system)
Implementing and maintaining Physician Order Entry?
Implementing and maintaining Electronic MARs?
Implementing and maintaining Bedside Med Verification?
Do you know what percentage increase in staffing is required to switch from Long Term Care modified Unit Dose Card dispensing to Unit Dose?
Implementing and maintaining Pyxis for after hours and controlled substances?
Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated.
